My 5.5 HP Tecumseh For my Go Kart

I JUST COMPLETELY REBUILT THIS MOTOR FOR A POWER MECHANIC'S COMPETITION, I REPLACED THE PISTON RINGS, ALL GASKETS AND SEALS, AND VALVES. THE MOTOR STARTED UP ON THE FIRST PULL AND WILL BE ON MY GO KART AGAIN WITHIN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS. I WILL MAKE MORE VIDEOS BECAUSE I GOT A ACTUAL CAMERA.

Wow, I have almost the same go kart frame. The only difference is mine has a live axel. I had the same Tecumseh engine, only it was the 8hp. Totally trashed it. I replaced it with a Briggs 5.5hp Intek. The Briggs blows the Tecumseh away. Seriously, I'm not championing for anybody as far as engines go, but I know which one is easier to work on (less work, because it doesn't break down like Tecumseh) and is heller faster. And at 2.5 hp less. Get a Briggs.

@jboycook My frame has a live axle too. I wish i could of gotten a briggs but this motor kinda fell into my hands and the price was right. I rebuilt this motor a year ago and ran great through the summer but since i took it out of storage for the winter it has been running like shit so i am prob going to sell it for a briggs or sell the kart all together.

rebuilt motor? sould've gotten a Briggs. My dads has one, and doesn't do oil changes or any maintenance at all. it still runs after 18 yrs.

@abram7117 Yeah i had to rebuild something for my power mech class so i picked the retarded tecumseh, i had other briggs motors but of course they dident need to be rebuilt. this motor has ran flawlessly since the rebuild, i wonder how long it will last lol

get a tecumseh! (if you want to kill your wallet and claw your eyes out for repairs) i like briggs they last forever if you properly maintain them. ive got a 5 hp briggs from 1971 still runs great and its almost 40 years old
