The Lost Pyramids of Caral.

Caral dates from 2,600 BC making it one of the earliest known civilisations on Earth The magnificent ancient city of pyramids at Caral in Peru hit the headlines in 2001. The site is a thousand years older than the earliest known civilisation in the Americas and, at 2,627 BC, is as old as the pyramids of Egypt. Many now believe it is the fabled missing link of archaeology - a 'mother city'. If so, then these extraordinary findings could finally answer one of the great questions of archaeology: why did humans become civilised?

The mother of all cities

For over a century, archaeologists have been searching for what they call a mother city. Civilisation began in only six areas of the world: Egypt, Mesopotamia, India, China, Peru and Central America. In each of these regions people moved from small family units to build cities of thousands of people. They crossed the historic divide, one of the great moments in human history. Why? To find the answer archaeologists needed to find a mother city - the first stage of city-building.

Civilisation through conflict

They couldn't find one anywhere. Everywhere this first stage seemed destroyed or built over. And so, instead, scientists developed a number of theories. Some said it was because of the development of trade, others that it was irrigation. Some even today believe it was all because of aliens. Gradually an uneasy consensus emerged. The key force common to all civilisations was warfare.

The theory was that only the fear of war could motivate people to give up the simple life and form complex societies. To prove it, archaeologists still had to find a city from that very first stage of civilisation. If it showed signs of warfare, then the theory had to be true.

Peruvian archaeologist, Ruth ShadyWhen archaeologist Ruth Shady discovered her 5,000 year old city of pyramids in the Peruvian desert, all eyes were on the New World. Ruth's extraordinary city, known as Caral, is so much older than anything else in South America that it is a clear candidate to be the mother city. It also is in pristine condition. Nothing has been built on it at all. Instead laid out before the world is an elaborate complex of pyramids, temples, an amphitheatre and ordinary houses.

Make love not war

Crucially, there is not the faintest trace of warfare at Caral; no battlements, no weapons, no mutilated bodies. Instead, Ruth's findings suggest it was a gentle society, built on commerce and pleasure. In one of the pyramids they uncovered beautiful flutes made from condor and pelican bones. They have also found evidence of a culture that took drugs and perhaps aphrodisiacs. Most stunning of all, they have found the remains of a baby, lovingly wrapped and buried with a precious necklace made of stone beads.

  • Yeah, man just stood up one day and said lets build a city?

That makes no sense at all! I can not accept such an obsurd idea as this. What seems apparent here is that war was a product of cities and civilization rather than the cause of civilization. It is not possible for civilization to form without the skills required for the stone masonry, like explain the 8 - 25 tonne stones moved around, it is impossible for a bunch of nomads to come together and miraculously build such monuments.

  • @reddesertsands and no wheels and metal tools

  • @reddesertsands Man not too far from then also knew things we rediscovered in the 19th- 20th centuries. So its very well possible. Especially considering the GREEKS knew about STEAM power

  • @reddesertsands I wouldn't sell humanity short, imo it seems they knew something we obviously don't, I think it has something to do with magnetism, I suggest you read about coral castle.

  • It is ridiculous to believe humans build those pyramids. If there was no wheel - it means wheel was not necessary - there were better inventions to commute - for example flying disk ... and humans might have been a stationary work force - kept in cages or camps, now called cities.

  • Lol some people think buildings built themselfs, look at the bosnia pyrimids, those may be up to 40,000 Years old.... And they are built (they think) primarily as a transmitter possibly for interstellar communication. They allso produce at least 10KW of power. But they do not know yet as it is old and may be dammaged or not functioning correctly.. They have allso identified ones in space like Elysium planitia, Mars. Now we have to remember we where hunter gathereres (buildings built themselfs..)

  • the white race and their culture is so boring....they produce nothing magnificent

  • @TheHaRdRoCkRuLeZ There were some images that were just there in order to make you think what they want to. You know how I call that? INDOCTRINATION. You shall not believe in everything what they talk in documentaries. You have to keep in mind that they will try to give just the information that helps them in order to make their ideas seem perfectly correct. Anyways, as a peruvian I can't just sit down and watch things like this without getting angry at semi-made up facts right?

  • @reddesertsands I would also love to clearify that this video is invented in part and I want everybody to know this: Ruth Shady found this thanks of one of her students that were doing an investigation work, but weren't archaeologists so "they don't exist" in the facts telled here so they just made up some things in order to not mention em. Also, there are a hell of a lot of images that weren't from Caral and not even of civilizations near them in time or space.

  • @reddesertsands Well dude, you need to know that Caral was made by nomads in order to make trades and mysteries like those ARE being discovered but do not have an exact explanation (explain Stonehenge). There are also other cities around that area that were made in about the same years, but this is the biggest one. The most important thing: not a damn signal of war, only tradings.

  • On Ancient Aliens, a few theorists were talking about how this place is "haunted", it's very eerie there, especially at night.

  • @AtheistSpanker Nope - Made all my own money and never needed or asked anyone else for anything. The facts of history are just that. Every so called successful civilization took from ever other civilization to give the rich within theirs. They also enslaved the others. For a few to have more many must have less ! Facts ! Rome, Egypt, France, Spain, Germany eand the USA in the middle east etc...
