I remember feeling really upbeat about the future when I saw this commercial in 1999.

rainy night, looking like blade runner, girl walks into newspaper stand asking for an obscure book and the he tells her "we have every book ever written"etc.
Other one was a diner in the middle of a desert and a customer asks the owner what's on the jukebox and he says"Every song ever recorded by every artist" etc.
they were great commercials, but I can't find them anywhere.

Hey can someone call the company Quest and ask them to help restore Amboy. The owner of Amboy has started restoring efforts again.
Search restoring amboy on YouTube

At Roy's Motel Cafe in Amboy that same front desk in the motel lobby is still there. It was built in the lobby so it has always been too big to remove. You can come and see through the glass windows. Roy's Motel Cafe is going to reopen soon. It is currently Roy's Gasoline.

When I saw this commercial as a kid,
I thought it was for a company that literally had that ability. I called them up asking how I could get this service. They thought I was stupid and explained to me that it was a metaphor.

"Ride The Light" photo-optic lines were the next big thing. The are there in underground utility races all over metropolitan areas....unused..

Great shooting location; there are few things as iconic as Amboy.

@daninnj Yeah Sorry, I know what Bandwidth and the internet are now. When I saw this a decade ago I just understood it as "hey look at this funny impossible concept we came up with"
I didn't even get the point when I saw this ages ago. What is bandwidth?

@Daghead Bandwidth is the capacity of data flow of networks. Basically, it's how much digital information can be transferred through a connection. For example in 1999, most internet users were using 56k dial-up connections which were way too slow to download good-quality videos in a reasonable amount of time (If there were DVDs being ripped by then, it would take more than 27 hours to download a movie back then).

@daninnj The ad stated that there may be a time where the smallest of businesses may someday have the capacity to hook up to a service offering "every movie ever made..." While we are not there yet, I believe Netflix instant streaming is the closest thing available to this pipe dream. Of course it will never be completely fulfilled due to movie studios not wanting to lease out their movies to services. Still, I believe we can have the capacity to offer "every movie ever made."
