wave off light trigger ... they push it and it signals the pilot to abort his or her landing attempt and go around and try again ... I'm unsure why the hold it over their head but it's probably a very simple reason.
My dad was an Electrician/Electronics man on these puppies up to about 1990. VAW 113, VAW 114, VAW 111. We've still got loads of Squadron Memoriabilia in his Estate, and had hoped to have one of these birds do a fly by at his Internment at Fort Roscrans, but no Squadrons were in port that day.
Very clean landing. I guess E-2 is harder to land than fighters.
