In this video I explain how to remove the rear strut and rear trailing arm from a civic. Strut and trailing arm removal may be different for the various years and models. This is a 93 Civic DX sedan. This process is the same for most del sols and integras and may also be the same for other Honda models.

NOTE: I didn't know the correct name of the rear trailing arm when I made this video so I referred to it as the rear axle.

  • how did u brake that back nut out from the broken bolt same happend to me but i dont know how to remove it

  • @MrBranace

I haven't done anything with it. The broken bolt is still stuck in there. If I ever fix it I will probably just remove the nut that is welded on the strut, using a grinder with a cut off wheel. Then I should be able to tap out the bolt, weld a new nut on the strut and then put in a new bolt with anti-seize compound applied to it.

  • U dnt need to use spring compressors when it's on the car. Just jack up your car all the way no there no tension on the spring then unbolt the two 14mm in the car or under the hood. And then the 17 (strut mount) then you can unbolt the fork from the strut then take it out then your suppost to use the spring compressor.

    Yes, I know that now.

  • Hey man I know this was made a long time ago but I have question and it would really help me out if you could awnser it. I recently bought a 93 del sol and it's on skunk 2 adjustable coil covers and I was wonder if it's basically the same process to raise my ride height? Thanks man I'm subbed!

  • @deadly134

If you have adjustable coilovers you do not need the spring compressor tool, you would just need to loosen the locking ring and spring perch, that are under the spring, until the spring was no longer compressed by the strut(this is to disassemble the strut).

To raise the height you can just tighten the spring perch until it is at your preferred height and then tighten the locking nut to the spring perch.

    Hope this helps.

  • @frylockthefryman ya saves time. although with stock springs its pretty hard by yourself. helps to have one person put weight on the trailing arm to bring it down to where you can take the coilover out. THEN! spring compressors.

  • Nicely done!

  • "It will break off, like I found out it will do........." Hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
