I usually think of "interviews" as going like this: you ask a question, they give an answer.

You seem to think interviews go like this: you ask a question, they begin to answer, you challenge them halfway through and cut them off with your own answer.

Regardless of politics, the least you could do is let people answer your question and not snicker in their face while they do it.
