@yoyoyoitsjosh I respect your comment and I'm just gonna tell you why they do that stuff (in my perspective), fluttering your hands is probably because he tried to block and was anticipating the punches, they have their hands down because maybe they're comfortable with it, but I believe hands should be up. I don't think they have bad posture because they are the some of the best in the world (well John is, not really Chris). These guys grapple because they want to score 3 points.

while watching for 26 seconds so far. I've noticed silly things that are excessive. I saw a guy flutter his hands. No point to it. Just wasted energy. Do what you need to do then end with that. Don't go overboard. So far after that a lot of hands down. Very bad posture. It reminded me of sumo wrestling. To much grappling. I can't finish this. It doesn't remind me of karate it reminds me of street fighting. Not worth finishing

@DukeLito He doesn't need to be, Hes John Fonseca. What have you done?

@ikfkotaka I love Fonseca but he cant be in the spotlight forever. We going to need a new US team eventually. Just saying, gotta give the guy credit for making it that far.

CHRIS IS AWESOME

Sensei Wood is an amazing fighter. He was my sensei, and I remember him training for this match. He is and was a fantastic competitor. Just because Fonseca won this time around doesn't mean Sensei Wood is down and out. XD

@curranskarate finally someone that speaks with a little bit of knowledge. good post sir.

people need to show some respect! Fonseca could school anyone on this post. he is a pioneer for sport karate in the USA and doesn't waste his time arguing over the 17 move in heian sandan, he spends it sparring and conditioning. I personally havn't fought him but a good friend of mine has and Fonseca is good. Also, i bought his dvd and it is one of the best dvd's on basic sport karate. It is actually a great benchmark for the minimum that every black belt should know about kumite.

He is no George Kotaka thats for sure
KJM1287: i'm sorry but u don't have a clue what ur talking about. "judges screwed chris out of at least 4 points". chris couldn't even score a point. and about clinching, now that's allowed in WKF rules. seems like ur a little bias when it comes to chris. chris is in no way in the same league as john. not even close. ur comparing an athlete who's placed 2 bronze medals in the world championships, paris open gold medalist, pan am games gold medalist to a guy who just made the senior team.
