A new priest shows up at the parish of a crusty old priest named Father Fitzgibbon. The new man, Father O'Malley, must ingratiate himself with both the old man and his congregation. There are various ups and downs in their relationship but on the whole, it all seems to be going rather well. Then one night, the church burns to the ground. Written by Alfred Jingle

  • @davidh0117 yes it is. I read that he's the one singing, swinging on a star

  • @davidh0117 Don't think so, unless he was one of the little kids. The star was Bing Crosby.

  • Would I be right in saying that Going My Way starred a young Andy Williams?!

  • Movies OR songs are not created like this anymore

  • @VanTammen As to wonderful father, his legacy was tainted by a son's book which was at best muddled by his jealousy about Bing's second wife (after widowhood). I'd rather be influence by Bob Hope's assessment of Bing's character. All things considered, you're obvious anti-catholic bigotry is noted. Catholic church got more press, but all religions have their pedophiles.

  • @Eagle027 Bing Crosby: Straight as light and a wonderful father, a role model of yours I presume?

  • @Eagle027 actually you're the asshole, because in a non prejudice way, that was exactly what I was saying, that at the modern light a "gay padre" is actually a polemic thing to say with all the pedophile... I was stating how in a way it's funny that modern society could change the view on such an inocent movie... but I guess you are to worried to insult people to stop and read what they actually wrote... judging and throwing insults not very catholic of you if you ask me

  • @VanTammen Bing Crosby was straight as light, you anti-Catholic bigot. Asshole, before homosexual restructuring of our society, gay meant happy.

  • Bing as the Gay Singing Padre! ha, one has to love the irony of "word changing" through out the years!

  • Watching an old favorite, and possibly the most Irish movie of all time
