  • You cannot use hands or elbows for blocking or high blocking today. The WFTDA rules were made by and for the skaters safety

  • @nyc69singer there are absolutely no films with the Cats. There are a couple with the Warriors. One where they play Canada and one against the TBirds. Dang Bill Griffiths has the games on the old reel to reel film and didn't think they'd be worth anythinbg so they ended up rotted and molded. There are some decents parts and ways to try to fix the moldy parts. Probably wouldn't be able to get a whole game but could get some clips from different games.

  • This is not Roller Derby, but rollergames.....

  • do you have any clips of the Baltimore Cats or the Philadelphia Warriors?

  • wow..this is amazing,,i rememeber as a kid, my sister took me to arena in philly...i remember buddy atkinson..mike gammon..little richard..judy arnold..wow ..and the villians,,,,the texas outlaws with jim trotter..judy sowinki....wow ..so much fun..so many memories,,,,thanks for sharing

  • While I never became a big star skating I did skate at the Olympic at that time so you may have see me also.

  • When I was a kid back in the 70's my folks used to take us to the Olympic auditorium to watch the Roller Derby on Sat nights or Sunday afternoons in LA. My GF and I used to hang out outside the locker room doors to talk to the skaters as they came out. Ronnie Raines, DannyReilly, Raphie Valadarez and Honey Sanchez, LeRoy Gomez, just to name a few. Enjoyed the memories thanks

  • The masters of Classic ROLLER DERBY surely "Whip It" back then and their treasure legacy footages lives on today. Cheers!

  • woodyt56 - you're right on the skaters you listed but this footage was from the late 70's/early 80's and Dick Lane was long gone.

  • I recognize some of those guys, Ronnie "Psycho" Raines and big Danny Reilly. Early 70s Roller Games, the announcer was Dick Lane.
