Honda Benly Off road

Green laning near Bristol on a 1980 Honda Benly CD200 on road tyres. The bike is 100% road legal and cost me £300.
A day out on the zx9r would cost me over £30 in fuel.
A days green laning on this thing cost me just £4 in fuel.
It also gets me to work every day and even with all this off road tomfoolery, it'll still do over 70mpg.
Who says motorcycling on a shoe string has to be boring anyway?

cool bike! just wondering what there really like? im 20 and thinking about getting into biking and have seen a blue one thats takin my fancy advertised for 500 euro(in ireland) just not sure if id be mad geting 1 as a first bike. easy to work on? thanks!!

@mitchmitchells As a first bike its not a bad choice. Its very cheap to run,reliable and very easy to work on,more so than modern bikes.It is very slow, even for a 200. 70mph comes eventually but is accompanied by huge amounts of vibration and rattling. A modern 125 would probably be a bit faster. The brakes are rubbish. It has drums at front and back, so emergency stops can be a bit bottom clenching! But it has a certain charm that modern bikes just don't have. Classic insurance,cheap tax too.

@benniehitchcock thanks for the reply. mmm seems like it might not be as mad an idea as i thought. not too fused about performance. its the charm thats caught my eye! i have an old mini so i guess im into the older stuff. not sure if you can get classic insurance for under 25's in ireland but will have to check. cheers!!
