"...had to marry her." And, could never divorce her.

"If they hurt them, they were actually to be stoned!" LMAO like that's moral either!

@66tomm99 Fair enough.

@DanteDeshar No I did. Have you ever heard the phrase "There are lies, damn lies, and statistics"?
Statistics and numbers are all well and good, but without a conext they can be meaningless or misrepresentative.
If you are not from England, or had missed looking at previous polls, you would not understand the context.

@66tomm99 The link to the polls was enough, you didn't have to post your observations along side it.

@DanteDeshar On the topic of identifying with a religion but not believing, in Britain the faith based schools consistently perform as some of the best schools in the country, but obviously require the parent and child to be of that faith for them to attend. This also skews the polls in favour of identifying with a religion.
-
@DanteDeshar Backed up with the fact that people under 18 adopt their parents religion, and the 2001 poll showed 70% of people identified as Christian, as opposed to 53% now). Although people sometimes give up their religion later in life, the rapid decline likely comes from the younger generation, which are the people I am more likely to have met.

gns/religion-and-belief-survey s-statistics 39% say they have no religion
65% of people say they are not religious (I don't know if you are from England, but many people are baptised/married in churches. Me and my parents have been baptised and confirmed, my mother always puts down she is part of a religion even though she doesn't believe in god) cont...
The age of the Earth is irrelevant to whether or not there's A god... technically, yes, but the fact that the Earth is four orders of magnitude older than the Bible states means that the Bible is WRONG, which IS relevant to whether or not it was inspired by THAT particular god.

@truthseeker010101
It doesn't matter if you truly believe that atheism is for the unhappy. I am an atheist. I am not unhappy. It doesn't make me unhappy to not believe in a higher power or miracles, etc. And I'm sure there's more than just me who are atheists and happy. Also happiness doesn't have any bearing what-so-ever on if something is true or not. I know you didn't bring that up, but I'm just throwing that out there.
