@Tehinke Having the higher ground seems like that is always advantageous, but have you ever tried to cover both your upper body and your lower body at the same time with one weapon? In the Filipino MA this strategy is instead of trying to impossibly covering both upstairs and downstairs one is able to cover the whole body by getting low. Of course you cant just be low all the time, but this trick can come in handy.

That last comment was unproductive...what does it matter what shoes a person is wearing or even if they are wearing shoes at all.

assuming you are the skinny guy in the vid... what kind of shoes are you wearing? New balance? Merrell?

What's with the kneeling? it's a waste of energy and puts your opponent in a favourable position if done that long. I'm not saying it isn't useful in some circumstances but it tends to expose the head if done too much. Btw, this has a lot in common with 19th century infantry sabre fencing.

Thanks for the comment it is a great insight. This is just sparring, so when sparring we try to put ourselves in any situation so that we are comfortable. Of course not to the ground for a fight if we didn't have to. The tactical advantage is usually always to the person on the higher ground. What if you trip due to uneven ground do you stop fighting or do you do what you know you have trained for. Our Tuhon puts us on uneven ground, in the rain, in mud, etc. to prepare us for all situations.
