Are you ready for JAMES BROWN?
I truly hope so, because I found some classic
footage that I didnt even know I had.
Back in 1984, James gave me the opportunity to
not only spend time with him, he also allowed us to
shoot parts of his concert at the Fairmount hotel in
San Francisco. During the last few months I've been going through material from my show Magic Number Video, with the hope I might be able to save footage, and
interviews, from my guest of more than 20 years ago.
A lot of the concert was lost due to time, and the original tapes were never protected properly as they should have been, so please forgive what was lost, and bless what James left for us to enjoy today. If you never had a chance to feel the excitement of a live James Brown concert, I think you'll enjoy this.
It's all right. This is some good stuff. Better late than never.

This was @ the fairmont or Wolfgangs in SFO. We were indeed working up a new band at this time, JB and the band parted co. because of his abandoning the entire troupe a few months before, the core of the band went to Atlanta and started out to form a new and independant band, and Jimmy died (Nolan) and James worked his ass off to prep some new and very green guys to hit the road with.

Something tells me that this is probably a 2am show. I don't know....it just has that "I've done two full shows already" vibe to it. I don't recognize that tenor player standing next to Maceo or the background singers, either. Maybe Mr. Brown was auditioning new people? They're missing all the hits on "Get Up Offa That Thing". But THANK YOU brother Isaac for putting this up.
