They didn't have it equally as tough. They were losing the game and had no baserunners when the bugs first attacked. All the hitters had to do was watch as the pitches went in the dirt and all over the place because the pitcher couldn't see. They didn't have to swing at anything and they tied the game without getting a hit, because of the bugs. I give them credit for winning in extra innings, but they were very lucky that the game wasn't over in 9 innings.
My point is that when the bugs came and swarmed the field, the Yankees were pitching and they had the lead - with only five outs to go. Any objective person could see that the bugs allowed the Indians to tie the game without even getting a hit (it was all walks and wild pitches). So no bugs, no runs for the Indians, and the series would have been tied at 1-1. That's all I said.
Please tell me you are kidding. The Indians were a far far far better team than the Yankees and most Yankees fans admit to that.... The ALDS was a joke, and the ALCS was the real world series.
This was thanks to a freakish event - a swarm of bugs that came at just the right time, allowing the Indians to tie the game without getting a hit. That swung the series and the Yankees never recovered.
The Red Sox are lucky that the bugs got to Joba. The Yankees were by far the best team in baseball for the last four months of the season and they had the Red Sox' number in the second half.
What year was this?, the 2007 ALDS when the Indians beat the Yankees, or the 1997 ALDS when the Indians beat the Yankees?
