CrossTalk: UN-Necessary?

Does the world really need the United Nations? Peter Lavelle and his CrossTalk guests discuss whether the UN is still relevant. Should it be reformed, particularly the Security Council, or should it be abolished? At the end of the Cold War, many people hoped that the UN would finally realize its founders' dreams of world peace, security and freedom through international cooperation. But now many think it is weaker and more divided than ever. Is the UN broken? Can anything be done to fix it?

The Security Council needs to be changed! I find it absurd that Frace (for example) is a permanenent member, but not India. India & China are both nuclear powers with respective populations of over 1 billion each. France is capable of invading Ivory Coast, but that's about it! Add India, I say! Might help put an end to Islamic terrorism!

Why the UN 'fails': it's underfunded and overworked. If the world want's it to function as it was intended they should honor the original charter and permanently donate troops.
