  • it is a gibson, you can see it on "the making of blood mountain" dvd when Bret is fooling around making guitar tracks. i actually had to stop the clip at a certain point to actually be able to see the "gibson" logo. but its definitely a custom shop, or at least a production line from LONG ago. but probably custom shop!

  • @Jeetkunow Aw man I envy you so much!!!!! That's my favourite guitar in the world. I just wanna play a big fat riff on it, its just amazing. Good going, as you know it's rare as it gets.

  • Its actualy a Gibson Customshop Designer series they were USA mad and most of them were shipped to Japan. If you go to Jeffs guitar Vault you will see one that he had sold for over 4000. dollars.

    I own it now : )

  • *no guitars with the knobs in a straight line and block inlays PLUS Silverburst, ofc ;)

  • I'd say definitely custom shop. According to "Gibson Flying V" (by Fjestad & Meiners, and god knows I'd trust my life on this book when it comes to facts about the V) there were no guitars with the knobs in a straight line and block inlays in the fretboard ever in the production lines.

There were only the Flying V Mahogny ('75-'82), the V2 ('79-'82) and the "V"-Bass ('81-'82) that had Silverburst as an official colour.

  • his original silverburst was returned to him when a fan saw it in a store and he bought it and sent it to him.

  • definitely a gibson

  • It's mocked up after a silverburst. He used to own a rare one in two silverburst but it was stolen after a show he was quoted in guitar world as saying "my custom is a good guitar...but it isn't the same".

  • Cheers for uploading all this Mastodon dude! Nice one!

  • nah dude it's a gibson flying v custom shop model. the finish is actually the same as bill's les paul...
