Bob Fernicola, Business Manager of Plasma Cutting Equipment for ESAB, explains that most shops will need a 30-40 amp plasma cutter for most of their needs. A machine this size offers convenience and can easily handle the steel shops typically see.

  • @AmericanFabricator What fucking crack you smoking? I have a basic water trap and it works fine. My tips last a long time! I get like 200ft - 300ft of cut!

  • WE CARRY THE LONGVITY LINE OF PLASMA CUTTERS, AND MOST FEATURE CONSTANT ARC, WHICH IS ANOTHER THING TO BEAR IN MIND WHEN CONSIDERING A PURCHASE, AS IT MAKES THE PROCESS SO MUCH EASIER. BOB IS RIGHT< BE SURE TO HAVE A GOOD GRASP ON WHAT YOU WILL BE CUTTING BEFORE YOU BUY, SO YOU CAN CHOOSE YOUR CUTTER ACCORDINGLY!

  • Also, the buyer must be aware that his/her compressed air system must be bone dry - not merely installing a water trap - that won't cut it. I mean buying a $500+ refrigerated air dryer system or else the cost of consumables will be a big expense!
