Fun Gun Gear Reviews Presents: "Ammo Required" Ammo is a key element in protecting your preps. Don't skimp on your ammo supply. Have enough ammo to be effective in a WROL / SHTF situation, otherwise, you have an expensive paperweight! Ammo prices are continuing to rise.

  • Another ammo storage tip - don't keep all one caliber in a box, mix up a bit of each of your "useable" guns in each box, so theoretically you could grab any box and have all the kinds of ammo you need. I keep a ratio specific tender of 4 kinds in my SHTF supply, about 20:30:40:10 of .223:9mm:22LR:12ga respectively AND some variation within calibers in each box as well, some subsonics, HP/hunting, target so each box is ready. Don't be naive about being able to quickly move 5k rounds. It's heavy.

  • You shouldn't use oil based products on the rubber seals of your ammo cans. It will break down the rubber. Go to an auto parts store and pick up 100% Silicone Lubricant, spray it on and massage it into the rubber.

  • Make sure to have enough ammo when robbing a bank

  • Though there is no real "need" per se, I do rotate my ammo. I often buy a few boxes for a range outing and grab a spare for longterm storage. When the dates start getting "up there" on the long term boxes, I'll often grab five boxes for a range outing and replace with five fresh boxes. Just a CYA option. I figure, I have just as much fun with ten year old ammo as the fresh stuff.

  • Great vid. Love your 1k/gun ratio....keep posting, I'll watch!

  • Love video I feel same nice

  • @TheJimsterJim Because without ammo, a gun is simply a paper weight. Unless you can throw a rock at over 1000 ft. per second.

  • lol why do you NEED to have ammo?! its not like zombies attack your house every week or you get burglars everyday -_-

  • Currently have 2500 rounds of 5.56 NATO green tip about 500 5.56 tracer. .. Roughly 500 9mm luger 100 9mm makarov ,100 7.62 x 38 mm, 500 7.62 x54 various types .. 100 50 bmg , 1000 7.62x39 mm .. and I have no clue on .22 lr two ammo cases full ..

  • @Astroformer Here is an example of why you want to keep track of your lot numbers. "Hornady Ammo Recall": Product Details: Item number 9249

  • @Astroformer What you are describing is a "Go Pack", either in an ammo can or bandoleer, and more associated with caches and mini caches. If you have truly standardized on your ammo needs, or don't care about tracking case lot numbers for safety and logistics, Then you could break up your stock up that way. For me, I track case lot numbers in case of product recalls. And what would you do if you shot up all ammo of a certain caliber in the pack? Raid another pack for that type?

  • i doubt that in any of our lifetimes there will be a need for this. however i agree with stock pileing ammo for whatever reason, self defence war whatever it may be. i would stock pile ammo so you can go shooting with buddies or family whenever and not worry about buying it. if a war situation ever did break out, no need to over think it, a simple frying pan is all you need
