Horse Tripping and Electric Prodding

Shocking video captured at the Winnemucca Annual Charreada on April 30, 2011. Not only shows horse tripping to be alive and well in a state that claims to not have it, but also that horses are downed, injured, prodded with electric cattle prods, used over and over in repeated events, and are not given water throughout an entire day of events. Blatant abuse to these horses, which are obvious domestics, is in no way in the spirit of a true rodeo and rodeo sportsmanship. Irrelevant minutiae. At the Senate Natural Resources Committee meeting on April 25, 2011, testimony entered alleged "these events don't happen in Nevada" and "the horse never goes down". The purpose of this video was to prove that testimony was false.  End of story.

@HelpAnimalsNV What is irrelevant about killing calves with ropes. I am sure the calves would disagree with you. Also, horses fall in steeplechase, cross county, jumping and rodeo. Maybe they should be illegal in Nev. Since you are so concerned with hot shots, there is a nice video of PRCA officials electrifying horses this year at the National Finales on you tube. Maybe you should try to get them indicted under your theory.

@RMJ8757 The suggestion that every statute relating to violent crime would list every possible apparati to be utilized in said crime is absurd. Our laws would be hundreds upon thousands of pages long - EACH. NRS 200.366 doesn't list every apparatus one can use in a sexual assault, and yet, no matter what apparatus is used, including but not limited to a cattle prod, the crime will still be prosecuted as a felony. To condone or support cattle prodding of domestic horses is political suicide.

As previously stated, the purpose of this video was simply 1) show horse tripping events take place in Nevada; 2) show the horse can go down. Both were proven. The rest is minutiae. ok look for the last time this is a fucking accident!! the horse trip by itself! the charro was running to help to take off the rope. he did not intend to pull the rope. the horse was not limping at all!! the reason why it continues the event beacause it is not hurt inanyway. i know i was there when that happened im the one in the yellow shirt on 2:39. if you accutally read your facts horses can go days without water. after the whole event of the charreria was over we feed and gave water to them

What kind of sport is this exactly?? Maybe I'm missing the point. Yeah let's take a rope, a bunch of other horses, chase one down and trip it with a rope. And continue that repeatedly, all the while terrorizing the poor thing .That's an F'n sport?? I find it cruel and completely unneccessary!! ANY life should be kept sacred unless it has a lack of RESPECT for any other living creature. @HerraduraDeElko I don't know who is calling you a "sick mexican." I think your culture could be presented beautifully. I think this event detracts from the beauty and needs to be left behind. I had hoped to go to an event and see some beautiful horsemanship and eat good food.

Instead I was horrified.

I kept hoping to see a change, something to redeem it. A vet or official stop it. There was no redemption.

This legislation has passed in many states, it needs to pass in Nevada.
