I got up around six the other day and was trolling for news when I cam across a clip about a confrontation between advocates for single payer health insurance and a Senate ccommittee hearing on health care reform. Despite previous promises they were being excluded from a hearing and were being disruptive.
After watching it I thought I would take a closer look at the issue of single payer health insurance and what role it might play in health care reform. What were presenting here is a remix of what I learned. We look at what single payer is, what other countries are doing and what is the nature of the opposition to it. And a the root of it seems to be the influence of money from the health insurance lobby. What a shock.
At Blagovision we think that Americans should closely watch politicians. Listen to what they say, watch what they do and ask questions.

  • Thank you Dr. Flowers for your service as a doctor and for speaking out on this issue. I am working on a follow up because trust me I have been watching this story. I saw your appearance on Ed Schultz and thought he did an excellent job of reporting. Keep up the good work and keep speaking out .

  • DADDY! DADDY! Why do pople have to needlessly have their lives ruined or even die because they don't have health insurance?

Son it' so wealthy, politically connected companies can reap huge profits. Now be a good boy shut up and have some more candy.

  • In your opening stats you need to include how much the health insurance industry and pharma gives to our elected officials every year. Put the amount that health insurance ceo's make per year, including the hundreds of millions some make from back dating stock options (reference William McGuire w/ United Health including his 1.1 billion dollar golden parachute--that's alot of medical denials, that's alot of dead policy holders). Way to go Bill, you make Big Banksters look like amatures.

  • nice, thank you for the edutainment , in school in st louis county , mo. i talked to 10 instructors and all instructors and most students are against healthcare reform and none who are against it know anything but what the socalled news says

  • Great video! The Americans who oppose single payer plan are very brainwashed and pawns of the corporate interests!

  • Get the government out of health care? What world do you live in? If it weren't for the government we wouldn't have a health care system. They take care of senior citizens, veterens and ultimatly everyone that can't afford insurance. The government provides a large degree of funding for basic research that provides the drugs that big Pharma makes billions off of.

  • Get the government OUT of health care, not further in. Insurance developed because the need to have lawyers to fend off lawsuits. Tort reform first. By the way, your right to sue WOULD go away with socialized medicine anyway.

There is NO choice in socialized medicine. There is NO choice after you are a certain age, you are simply denied certain services. Try appealing THAT. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Carousel, anyone? (Logan's Run)

  • johnnorvaisas,i live in the u.k and don't pay extremely high taxes ? 6 weeks paid holiday,35 hour week, paid off my mortgage for a property worth £270,000,can see any doctor i like, any hospital i like, don't worry about being ill, just had six months off work (paid)when i hurt my foot, and received fantastic care and didn't pay a penny apart from £6.00 prescription charge for the drugs and bandages i needed...and i'm only a post-man.....you brainwashed suckers !

  • just like reagan said people chose to be homeless you say americans chose not to have health care. is this truly human nature? that health care is a threat to democracy? give me a break.

  • yes, lets protect the private interests against literally millions and millions of americans. what was democracy? i forget.

  • Then move to Canada or the UK and pay extremely high taxes for rationed care.

Bye Bye pack your pags we Americans don't want high tax rationed health care.

  • We trust the government for policeand fire service. The government provides health care to our seniors & vets. They also keep our water clean and provides it to us for low cost.

There wouldn't be an Internet were it not for the government.

Now shall we look at some of the great sucsess that deregulation has provided us? Airlines, Savings & Loans, the financial industry?

My doctor is my doctor. I would rather pay him/her through an insurance pool administered by the government.

  • Guy sits in his $1200 apartment after coming home with his takeout dinner. He opens a bottle of beer in front of his 50 flat screen to watch HBO. On his wireless laptop looking up Itune songs to download while smoking a fatty, he calls his buddy and discusses the bitches they are going to hook up with at the club Friday night and the other club on Saturday night. While on the call, His home phone rings. A pollster asks, Do you have health insurance? He responds no I cant afford it.
