Partially spring loaded. The spring is connected to the 2nd tier of the drawer slide, so the blade shoots forward using momentum.

@asdfdsa59 I wouldn't really call it safe. It is made of metal, which naturally has sharp edges and such.

@theawesomeassassin1 I found it on ebay. Keywords were 'futuristic samurai letter opener', but I haven't seen any of them for sale in a while.
