Focke-Wulf 190 A-4 in IL-2 Sturmovik 1946

Just a bit of Quick Mission flying against some sixteen Average AI RAF fighters in wings of four.

Mainly a video editing test, but also shows a bit about how the FW-190 is supposed to be flown like - no dogfighting more maneuverable planes like Hurricanes and Spitfires, they'll eat you for lunch if you let your energy go too down. Keep it high and fast and the enemy will have a lot harder time.

Of course, the AI in this game cheats in single player mode to compensate for their inability to adjust their lead to actually hit your plane, so in multiplayer a bit different tactics must be used... for example, flying in a steady turn is a bad idea if your enemy can adapt their deflection, unlike the AI (at least on average, that is).

But whatever.

Easiest way to get this game is probably GoodOldGames, which sells it at about 10 dollar price.

Another way, if you prefer a physical copy, would be to locate the game in some random store in the discount shelf.

As far as piloting goes, this video mostly showcases how to deal with AI planes in this game, not much more. While they have unfair advantages in flight characteristics, they are crapshoots.

Crimea. You'll get that starting position with Axis quick mission, situation equal (no advantage or disadvantage).

Yes, because in my opinion it's better to practice aerial gunnery that way. I also have Engine Overheat, Limited Fuel and Blackouts off, since based on all indications the AI is apparently not affected by these factors and they can rapidly become annoyances on single player mode.

Flying against the AI fighters is not exactly much of a challenge tactically, so I use them for aiming and timing the firing runs. For more realism, you have to go online to play against real people anyway... :-)

A dog-fight, much better than history channel. You exactly know how to handle air combat simulations.

Ye it does get freaking annoying, when I'm flying the same speed as the AI (let's say 700 km/h - jets) He makes a SUPERB tight turn, and when I follow doing that I get total blackout and he didn't T.T
