riding a tram in east berlin, germany. All trams in Berlin are located in the east because the west never built them but the east could not build the metro system (no money so build tram system instead). However this is slightly changing because there is recognition of tram benefits. some tracks go into west Berlin a bit.
-We are riding near alexander pladz. Note the TV tower looming over parts of the video especially towards the end.

  • "The west never built tram system" - Really? I think west did but deleted it during 60s in same time when east part of city was living communist era...

  • maybe... but the tram system is edging to the west now... so...

  • Your description is full of untruth. Begore WWII there was no east and west Berlin, and trams were everywhere in the city. But after the war, west Berlin began to dismantle its tram network over the time, and had it gone in 60's.

  • Trams are the future:-) It is interesting tram system when are trams more common in half of city...
