I've never understood why on earth Brett is tying Aston's corset? Ashton would have certainly had her own maid or two to do that for her, knowing her position as a Main southern belle.

@taker161 Yes it was very common back then to marry in the family. It was a way to keep the family blood pure and keept it in the family since they all knew each other. They did the same thing in Gone With the Wind.

@plantationmuscleboy I've always thought that it was for symbolism's sake, and to show some difference in the characters. Since their conversation is mostly revovling around Ashton thinking she's so much more older and sophisticated than her little sister, they have Brett tying up her corset and Ashton making fun of Brett for still being a baby and not understanding the world of courting. That's just my take anyway lol
