A good friend shared this audio of the story of the writing of the American National Anthem. I was so touched by it I felt to share this with others. I included the majority of the audio but added a few touches to it...along with pictures and clips that I hope may enhance its powerful message. This is part 2 of 2. You will need to watch both parts to get the full powerful message.

  • My 8 yr. old granddaughter could not walk away from this as I watched. It is important that the young understand the sacrifices made for freedom. It may be embellished some but there is truth as well, there were many who died for freedom. God Bless America!

  • Why do people find it necessary to embellish and falsify stories that are heroic and truthful in their own right?

This version is so wrought with errors, it shouldn't be allowed on You Tube.

We were an independent nation - not colonies - during the War of 1812. It was Fort McHenry - not Fort Henry. Key's mission was to negotiate the release of a planter friend, not all the prisoners. He wasn't allowed to stay on the ship but was sent to another during the bombardment. LEAVE HISTORY ALONE!

  • in the morning the smaller storm flag was replaced with a larger flag - the fort was and still is Fort McHenry - 4 men were killed during the bombardment - this moderator has really altered the facts

  • insane

  • Thank you for posting. I am proud to be an American, too. I'm going to die proud to be an American. And I would say with Merle Haggard, "If you don't love it, leave it...".

Every American needs to know this history, as well as how we got our Constitution, Declaration of Independance, and our Holy Bible.

  • I have heard this story before, but this video brought it to life. I'll try to pass it along to everyone I know. Moving film, brought tears to my eyes. A+

  • It reminds me of a cool story about a cloth with writing on it: "In memory of our God, our religion and freedom, and our peace, our wives and our children." They called it the "Title of Liberty"

  • Wonderful video! Some of my family and I were able to go to Fort McHenry a few weeks ago and what a stirring moment it was. An awe inspiring time for us. Words cannot adequately express our feelings at being there.
