MitoCanada "Running on Empty" 100 km Ultra Marathon Promo (2011)

Evan Penny suffers from a probable Mitochondrial Disease. Evan's Dad, Blaine Penny, organized the inaugural event in 2010 as a way to raise funds and awareness for mitochondrial disease (in support of the new charity MitoCanada - http://www.mitocanada.org/). Blaine is one of the founders of MitoCanada and is the President and CEO.

The 2nd annual 100 km Ultra Marathon run is on August 28, 2011 - starting in Bragg Creek, AB and ending in Canmore. This is not a race - it's about going the distance for charity (using the ENERGY we have as healthy people to support those who are affected by the disease and are truly "Running on Empty" every day).

People run in 'pods' of 4 to 6 runners and stay together as a group for the entire run. There is an option to choose a shorter distance of 25 or 50 km. The route travels through some of the most spectacular trails with stunning snow capped mountain scenery and views the entire way. Here's a trailer of last year's run:
