i have watched many videos of couples dancing the landler, but yet, not one has ever done a piece that is almost as perfect as julie andrews and christopher plummer.

Any of us who have been in a production of The Sound of Music and been asked to perform The Laendler have found it challenging; I am no exception to that ! However....I don't see any chemistry, I don't see any sort of connection between the characters on the stage. It's very robotic...and while it may be true that this dance is meant to be done in such a way, we all know that Maria is unable to perform it without letting herself be given away in this dance with Georg.

It's a tough dance, but they're not graceful, the laendler is an intimate chemistry charged dance. There is no chemistry between them, no fire, no intimacy, the movements are choreographed and lose their grace as such.

I don't mean to be rude to the dancers, because I know this is NOT an easy dance at all, so props to them for trying, but feel the music, feel what it's saying and then dance right?
