Tutorial: How to install bonus maps to Portal without Steam

Read the title. Nuff said.

Hello.

Today I'm going to show you how to install custom maps to portal
without using steam(This is good if installing maps trough steam doesn't work or
if you just hate steam like I do)

Feel free to pause the video if I'm going too fast.
Or you can check the description where i will copy this tutorial text to.




This is very simple.

What you will need:
-Computer
-Portal game
-Downloaded bonus maps(I assume you know where to and how to find these so
I am not going to help you with this. You can check the description to find some
bonus map sites though)

What to do:
Step 1: Unpack the
downloaded bonus
map somewhere
(Doesn't matter where)

Step 2: Open your
Portal game folder
and from there "portal"
folder and then "maps"

Step 3: Copy-paste
the bonus map files
to the maps folder (step 2!)

Step 4: Look at the name of the files with extension ".bns" and ".bsp"
Remember the name because you will need it later.

How to access these ingame:
Step 1:
Enable console from the "controls" section(you need to finish the single player first)

Step 2:
Open the console by pressing § key(or whatever you have mapped the
console key to)

Step 3:
Type "map (mapname)" in the console (check the step 4 of installing the bonus map
if you have forgotten what the map is called) and enjoy :)

@chriss32100 what do you mean? Cracked games have folders just like non-cracked games do. Or do you mean that you have Installed it on cd and run it from there. Can you explain a little better?

oh noooo I was sooo happy when I found this video (I've been searching for hours) that I didn't realize that it's portal 1 not 2 that you're showing!!! seriously, I need to find a way to play portal to CM without Steam. ^_^
