@eevelutionsfan I wondered the same thing (i.e. is it foreshadowing that Don is gonna off himself) but I feel like it's more symbolic he's kind of free falling through this life of superficiality and debauchery that he put himself in

The falling to me has always been seen as Don (along with everyone else) being trapped in these social/economic straightjackets of the early 60s and he's "falling into" this role or trying to fall "out of it"; just my two cents
