Kazakhstan New Year Festival - Nariyz - March 22nd 2009. Shymkent, southern-central Kazakhstan in the valley of the Sayram River in the foothills of the Ugam Range.

Goat polo (Kokpar), Kiss Chase (Kyz Kuu) and other traditional games on horseback. Music is the Kazakh National Anthem.

It rained all day but this did not ruin the atmosphere and the sheer privilege it was to see the games, eat free Plov (rice dish) and drink tea amongst some of the world's best horse masters.

  • Эта запись советских времен?

  • @teomankhan

    hey shut up

    Kazkakhs are mongolian-hunnic people

  • As an American, I can't understand one word, but the melody is beautiful. :)

  • I am not a Kazakhstani and my Kazak language is very, very limited (near to zero), but I am very glad to tell you that this song is Kazakhstani National Hymn. :) :) :) Such a beautiful piece of music art..... ^___^

  • can someone explain the song and what does it say?

  • Wideboyracer, please correct annotation. Shymkent is in Kazakstan, right but not on the border between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan... Otherwise, thanks for posting...
