With all the diplomatic skill of that tall guy in Accounting at the water cooler the president of the United States wonders aloud how much or how little racial animosity motivated Sergeant James Crowley to arrest professor Henry Gates. It's a shame Jack Webb wasn't there to comment.

"Number 1, you weren't there, number 2, you weren't there, and number 3, you weren't there."

p.s. Burt Prelutsky wrote this speech. More at http://www.badge714.com/dragprel.htm

  • @MrBEB123 And to see well researched answers to holocaust deniers that reference overwhelming physical evidence (aka the camps, the graves, the nazi records) then google search "66 questions nizkor". But of course don't read this if you prefer wild theories with scant proof.

  • Wow,

You know, a few blocks from the house where I grew up, a black man was arrested, handcuffed, laid face down on the ground, and shot in the back by police. To palm this kind of systematic abuse off as helpless mistakes is just delusional.

I've spoken with police, tried to reason with them. I have found them to be universally paranoid and hysterical and duplicitous. These people are not public servants, they are hired thugs, and deserve as much respect as any other gangster.

  • The republicans are the ones that are cutting financial support for police throughout the county causing many layoffs, creating dangerous conditions for our policemen and women. I think Joe would be making the speech to the T-bagging congress today.

  • @419dman Let's say for the sake of argument a man is killed by being pepper sprayed; what would cause him to be killed by that? Thousands of cops are peppered sprayed a day with no after effects. So what could kill a man in a pepper spray bottle, the pepper? Yes, if he has a lethal allergy to it, but only 1 person in 1,000,000 has that kind of allergy to that particular pepper. So if it was the pepper spray that killed him, how could the cops know that that man was that 1 in 1,000,000?

  • @419dman The media jumped on that story before all the facts were in The man was murdered but not by the cops, he was poisoned before the cops even arrived at the scene. The poison was the cause of his over violent behavior but the cops had no way of knowing that. The coroner's final report makes it clear that the pepper spray was not the cause of the man's death, nor was he beaten to death. Get all the facts before you report something...

  • @419dman You are saying that all cops are criminals and you compared them to Nazi storm troopers, REMEMBER?! Also the notion that we have 2 justice systems is just bunk! There are lots of rich people who never make the headlines who are in jail for crimes including murder; Doctors in prison for killing patients, Executives in prison for unethical business practices, drug lords and so on. You would know this if you bothered to read the news instead of relying on MSNBC...

  • @419dman Before you go separating ideals from reality first look where we got those ideals from. The freedoms you enjoy did not just pop up over night. The ideals you take for granted were not there for thousands of years, they had to be discovered. No one is saying that we live in a perfect ideal world, if we did there would be no need for Tea Partys to end socialist take over before it begins. With out our ideals we would not know to be out raged by injustice...

  • @419dman Once again you repeat the nonsense spouted by the socialists who dare call themselves Democrats. Freedom of the press does not mean that a reporter can print anything he wants even if his boss says no. It means that the press companies, no matter how big or small, can print whatever they want. This was put in place because King George executed paper owners, their reporters & even the innocent workers of news papers for printing unfavorable reports about him.

  • @Trekfreek Pepper spray was lethal in a case where Florida cops repeatedly sprayed a bound man, the coroner ruled the mans death a homicide, yet the responsible officers saw no punishment. No their lives are not like movies, they have the same motivations as you and I, a Mortgage, A light Bill, the desire for more than the ability to just scrape by. FTR I think the 15-20% of acceptably noble officers should be paid far more than what they currently receive

  • @Trekfreek I am not saying that only cops are imperfect, You and I, I would wager, would probably both be unfit for the challenge of wielding the degree of authority over other humans that they are given effectively and benignly. Not to mention that we have one justice system for the rich and another one altogether for those who work for a living, i.e. the poor and middle class. I have said nothing hateful- Cops are Human, No More, No less.
