This is a race prepped Torino Talladega that was raced with the 427 engine. I took this footage during the 35th aniversary of Talladega Super Speedway in 2004. I believe this is Benny Parsons race car
Here is a little bit of info for my and some general infor on Talladega.

  • does anyone know if any production talladega's come with hood pins and the gt gas cap?

  • @steve427mr

No. The while the base model for the Big T was the cobra, it didn't get the hood pins. It also wasn't a GT, so no GT logo. It got a "T" sticker on that false gas cap.

  • Just curious, I know nothing about NASCAR, but I noticed that bad boy doesn't exactly turn on a dime. Are their turning radius's modified to improve handling at higher speeds? ...Which I suppose would make a lot of sense.

  • @Blackboilingrobotoil

Well, I just looked through my pics of that event, but I still don't know. Some one in the know may chime in but I can't imagine them leaving them close to stock. It would also be effected by those huge tires.

The intermediates had the same suspensions as the Mustangs... and not known for great handling at any speed.

  • Is this at Tim Welborn's?

  • @moparnutjim

    Yes, it is.

  • it was better when race cars were actually cars not just shells with an engine

  • I'm a Mopar guy but I have a love for all muscle cars. The '69 Torino Talladega is something special.

  • ok thanks.are all the prototypes accounted for?

  • Very cool, but this in not a NASCAR race car. It's Benny Parsons' ARCA car from 68-69

  • they did not have power steering because at top speed the power steering pump would away power needed for that extra 2-3 MPH and the turning ratio is set for the race track & not the greatest for parking.

  • @Blackboilingrobotoil Great question.I believe this car does not have power steering,as back in the day,as it probably has a wheelbase of 115".Also for the super speedways, the steering box was slower than for a short track car.Compared to the current Cup cars of today,it's a boat.

  • the talladega had a 6" stretch on the front cap, ford's answer to the petty superbirds

  • @beammark agreed
