Nice cover-- but what a strange little song---chord progression is very odd-- if tonic is b flat-- the song just rides the perfect 5th in the vs, but moves from flatted 3rd chord, to tonic, (I) dominant (V)-then, inexplicably, to the flatted 6th?? Seems to work somehow--chromatiics and temporary key shifts I would guess.

Thnx! but I'm sorry I don't know what you are talking about... I'm a self-taught and I play everything by ears.

@SMOKESlGNAL No thats probably better anyway-- SRV played entirely by ear-- most songs follow predictable patterns e.g, If song is in E, the other two chords will usually be A (called the IV chord because it is constructed on the fourth note of the E scale) and B (called the V chord, because it is constructed on the 5th note of the E scale)-- knowing the patterns helps when you want to play a song in different Keys, but may limit creativity for some. I like knowing, but your playing is great.

@Flatted357 Yeah I totally agree with you and yup I know the pattern and I use them all the time on hymnal songs 'cuz I play in church. Every chord has partner chords such as let's say the song is in the key of G, then the partner chords would be -- C, C#m, C(flat)m, D, A, Am. But for songs like this I use my ears. Thanks!

hey but how exactly to go about listening from ear.
I can figure out some chords which are played but finger picked songs are a pain.. i find it impossible to pick notes by ear. please help

@shahpranav17 Don't worry bro I was like you too... Don't go too fast... Play a simple song first. Just be patient that's all that matters... Practice your hearing ability first by playing simple songs and try to listen each note over and over 'till it's perfect only if you wanna be like me. That's all I can say. Ones you learn one song by ears, then the following songs you wanna play are just piece of cakes. Don't give up and good luck! :)
