I respect your theory and I understand the need for vicilence but one think you have overlooked is alternative energy sources. Renuables, solar power and even the water powered car will replace our need for oil. As a nation we need to scale down our power consumption but there is an answer. I dont think the world will and as you have described.

Everyone keeps saying that alternative energy will save the day-so, if alternatives are going to save us, where are they?- If it will be so easy to switch to alternatives, why isn't anyone doing this? ALTERNATIVES ARE WAY TOO LITTLE, WAY TOO LATE- EXPECT A 6 BILLION DIE-OFF ARE YOU PREPARED?

I can't wait for the oil crisis to change the world. I'd be happy as hell to see Wal-mart, McDonalds, Burger King and all others off of every street corner in our cities. I'll be happy to see our young working hard at farming, not some desk job created to put someone in debt. I'l be happy to walk to a local grocery store that is locally owned and supplied by local food. Let globalism fail and along with it greed and the whole money system.

Nobody's going to make it except maybe the very rich that have known this was coming and built underground facilities to survive the nuclear holocaust that will be the final result of the countries fighting for the last drops of oil. It's all in the Middle East, and that's been a brewing pot waiting to boil over for years as it is. I think a full scale nuclear war will be the end for 99.9 percent of the human race.

Hopefully peak oil will happen soon enough to stop global warming. At least with peak oil our civilization can rebuild itself afterwards. That would be much harder with climate change.

@andymholmes "our need for oil" extends to things like plastics and agrochemicals (the petro-chemical industry). How will water powered cars feed the 7 billion population of the earth? What will those cars be made of?

And how do you plan to make for instance medicine out of nuclear power? Oil is not only an energy source, but is also used for fertilizer, pesticides, plastic, medicine, Going to nuclear is also just moving the problem to the future: oil is a finite resource, but so is uranium. We will probably see a peak uranium in about 2035, and that's only coming more closer to the present if we build more nuclear plants...
