England got it because England was smart enough to figure out how to land on it. Portugal was not.

Funny how there are people who want to live in places so remote noone should live there.. I'm one of those people (lol) and i wanna visit the islands so badly. I hope the people who their realise how lucky they are

which song is that ? and I read about this island in a book published in the 1960s and the british only fucked up the island with their ideals ! back then it was awesome ! I mean they had no police man( there was never a need for one) , no person "in charge" like a president or shit like that and get this they lived peacefully without any "laws" and get this conrad glass the current police man just like albert glass (tristans first policeman) is a policeman , lol, glasses are policemen ! lol !

@jrg8008 I'm not sure but it is quite old, in the beginning they have radio communication between South Africa and Tristan Da Cunha.

@Acexwanderer is this the documentary that was shown on public TV in the US, about 15-20 years ago? I saw that and have been trying to find it as well. It had a nice score.

The island was founded by a Portuguese explorer called Tristao da Cunha. However he never set foot on the island because the weather condition was so bad, that he could not get his ship to land on the island. Also the Portuguese have never ruled Tristan da Cunha.
