  • thats not sparring...thats a 2 man form

  • I don't get it why ppl scream that kung fu demos are choreographed. You have to choreograph any martial demo if u want it to work out and look impressive to the general audience, no matter the style. You ppl think that boxing or MMA movies ain't choreographed? lol :P The infamous Kickboxer and Rocky sagas? All just an act like any martial arts film :P

  • @wolf3001 said "Sparring randomizes things and helps with timing and distance and other stuff."

This is what you work using the form. You should learn rhythm/timing and distance with proper visualization. If that not what you are doing, you are doing form wrong. Sparing teach you to read the opponent .

  • @Lukeyblades 'sparring form' is an oxymoron. You either do form or sparing.

  • @MartialGirl13 said "MMA which is only martial [...]"

MMA is all Mixed but has no Martial Art. It is entertainment. No MMA 'athlete' stand a chance against a martial artist trained to kill.

  • @nabapoisu Peoples that say martial art demonstration are 'choreographed' like it is something wrong are, paradoxically the same that believe UFC and WWF are not rigged match.

These dumb kids simply fail to see skills where they are and see them where they're not.

  • Personally, I believe that all martial arts require balance. You must both practice fighting and practical self defense (hence the martial aspect) as well as the forms that help to hone the movements and train them properly (the art side). Losing one of them creates imbalance: MMA which is only martial or wushu which is only art. MMA loses adaptability since they must fight by set rules and wushu loses practicality since it's so inapplicable. Just a personal stance.
