Millions of years ago, jellyfish were trapped in this lake after a submerged reef rose from the sea, creating a landlocked saltwater lake. In this lake, the jellyfish have adapted to the new conditions by losing their sting. THAT'S WHY THOSE PEOPLE AREN'T GETTING STUNG

@USBornSoccerPlayer it's actually only about 30m (approx. 100ft). visitors are warned however not to dive too deep because of the anoxic bottom. the plants around the lake have caused a very acidic hydrogen sulfide bottom.

@MyAprilSide hahaha they rely on photosynthesis for food :)

@thebastardnerd1337 nope. recently there have been reports of baby crocodiles. luckily the entire area is safeguarded by marine biologists and maritime rangers that make sure the predator to prey population is well maintained and balanced.

@wafflepiepancake yup : ] they don't have stingers.

that awkward moment when you realise you live only a couple minutes away from this place and you don't appreciate it like all the other viewers.

@aloha1827 haha nope, it was done in palau. the jellyfish are trapped in a semi freshwater environment. they're enclosed so they eventually lost their ability to sting.
