For all of those who criticize the astronauts for using the Genesis account because it violated the 1st amendment, check this: the U.S. constitution does not extend to the cosmos and to say it does makes it universal--which it isn't. Nothing could describe the scenario better than the Words of the Creator Himself.

@imranite amen brother, im not christian in any shape or form and this verse, spoken in the setting that it was, still moves me to this day. To all the haters out there, read up a little about the apollo missions, the crews did everything they could to solidify the fact that this was an achievement to be shared by all mankind, regardless of race, religion, or nationality. pay close attention, the last lines by Borman were god bless ALL OF YOU ON THE GOOD EARTH

Would love to see @NASA try this now. Yes, the God & Bible part.

Ah the first three days of creation (or the many billions of years from our current time perspective.) What a fitting reading for a memorable trip.

...Thank you, to all the lost pioneering souls of the USA. and USSR... For exemplifying the true spirit of danger and heroism in the only possible way children could possibly understand ..Pragmatically. ..
They saved 1968.

If only you fellas knew the process through which they came up with the idea of reading from the Book of Genesis. It was meant to be all-inclusive and did not discriminate. Its a shame that we still have so much in-fighting and no tolerance for other's beliefs, views and cultures, despite having the same, protective mother , Earth. If we could just see what Borman, Lovell and Anders saw and feel what they did, our lives will change.
