@maximepaquin1 usually you are right. but in this case the translation is brilliant. you can watch the movie a thousand times- what a actually did.

@Bahutsauvage I do speak German. I'm not saying that this is a bad translation. I am saying that the overall work is, to me, better in its original version because a lot of wordplays and idiomatic expressions are lost in translation.
About needing a good level of French to appreciate the French version in its full flavour, I would retort that it is also true for any version in any language. If you don't speak German well enough you won't appreciate this German translation either.

@maximepaquin1 If it wasn't that time consuming i'd rather suggest you learn german, because the translation is magnificent, not that i'd dare to say that the original isn't a jewel of french literature - it proofs it due the possibility to translate it in such way, but believe me thats german in its pristinest appearance. Besides you have to take into account that ones french must be on quite a high level to enjoy it in its full flavour

Guys you have to see this movie in French, it is a jewel of the French language. I believe you lose a lot watching a translation of this!

Dies war der erste Film den ich sah in meinem Leben und er ist immer noch der Beste :)
