A Lupin game for the Sega Saturn..

Well.. Yes it looks very ugly but it plays well .. the concept Think tomb raider meets lupin and you SHOULD have a great game.

Even though the gameplay ideas are there unfortunately the same can't be said for the 3D engine which I wished a company like ASMIK (who personally I feel are one of the worst japanese game developers) would have licensed a 3D engine from Lobotomy or Sega themselves..

Despite being released late in the Saturn's life it really looks like an early saturn game where all these developers were complaining about how difficult the saturn was to programe for blah blah blah..

Still the full screen FMV is impressive

  • I say graphics aren't everything, but...That's pretty bad.

Was the gameplay 'okay' though? Seemed a bit too boring and straight forward. I never thought they could properly make a 'Lupin III' game anyway.

  • The game play is actually ok. if only it had a better 3D engine it would have been a great lupin game!

  • Was the whole game running and finding treasure or were there boss battles?

  • hmm I don't remember any boss battles.. at some point a few years ago I got half way through the game but then the data got erased from faulty memory card so my memory is pretty sketchy..

  • Wow they turned it into a game for the Saturn! the anime of this "The secret of mamo" was my favourite lupin movie =)

  • oo thanks for this info.

I may check the movie out!

I've only seen the Castle of Cagliostro and the Fuma conspiricy.

  • wouldn't mind playing it high.....

  • they should have used pre rendered backgrounds.....this is too much for saturn.

  • @zhazha23 lol, You know, I'd completely forgotten about this until I got your reply to a comment I left two years ago. Thanks! =^-^=

  • @Nekoyuki His suit gives him super-strength!

    ...in America!

  • Classic game. I hope it was ship here

in the Philippines back in 1998

  • @DigiHatesMakingNames There is a last boss. It's Pharaoh. You need fight him 3 times and he changes color. I've beaten this game: it's not bad but has a lot of Tomb Raider's ideas.

  • Well, that's a surprise. The opening animation of Lupin caught in a spotlight and running is a riff on the 1969 Lupin III "pilot film" This was quoted again in Lupin III Series One, and later in Castle of Cagliostro. The connection between all three - animation legend Yasuo Otsuka, also known as a lifelong friend of Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata. Fun bit of trivia from The Ghibli Blog :P

  • @YankyDoddle67 I think it's "Treasure of Sorcerer's king". Am I right? I have that game too but now I'm looking for the last game in ps2 'cause "Treasure of sorcerer king" is kinda boring.

  • Maybe, it would be great. But can it be better than the third part on PS2 (Death to Lupin, Love to Zenigata)? I have a big doubt!

  • I've downloaded this game today. So, let's try!
