The chain spinning on the perimeter is on one end of a differential and the system that turns the sincro-drive (all four wheels at once) is on the other. When resistance is felt on the chain (running into wall), the power transfers through the differential to the sincro-drive turning mechanism. The power follows the path of the least resistance. No sensors but it call still detect and change course, all mechanically.

believe me I tried to make it different!

  • I like how the original project inspired many others to build similar designs, yet this seems like a fresh take making it more accessible to builders parts-wise

Interesting "turntables" you have for the wheels, would be good alternatives for those lacking turntables and having a couple spare differential/gray gears lying around

Having that chain running around the perimeter seems also like a more universal solution compared to the hellfire droid wheels,I guess funkier shapes are possible too

  • @MyopicM2C1

nice to get such an insightful comment from someone who obviously knows their legos!

  • i own 5 M-motors but i stay no chance to build something as cool as you can do with only one :(

but in order to change that i ordered 4 XL motors and some remote controls today :)

  • @ILoveMixery Thank you very much! I agree, throw parts at it & make it work...

  • @MrTheyera the swastika's arms bend clockwise, ha

    this is counterclockwise

  • Very neat mini version! I would think it could actually carry the battery box without too much trouble. Now how about about a "micro" scale one where the outside is one technic turntable... :D.

  • Awesome!

  • @seredin89

actually its about half the size. Perhaps I should have had the old one in the video as a comparison
