Last of three parts:
I start with my usual "camera crammed between the track and wall" shot, which in this case left me with only 1/8" between the edge of the camcorder and the hot-metal cars. I couldn't even use the high-capacity battery I switched to for the last few minutes of video. I finish off the last of the footage with a 360-degree pan of the train circling the entire test track, my cheap tripod groaning at the low speed rotation. The tower crane (called "Giant Crane") is a 70's era Tomy product made for Sears Roebuck & Co., carrying the Sears brand name on the box (but nowhere on the crane itself) It's one of the few toys from my 1970's childhood (other than my first Lionels) that survive to the present day largely intact.
Kind of--the center section can be manually rotated to either side.
