  • One thing I am confused about is he mentions that his son tried on 3 different occasions to be fitted for contacts to correct his vision after LASIK. So based on that I am assuming that his eye doctor felt contacts, had he been able to wear them, would help his vision. Why would typical optical lenses not work just as well as contacts? I do feel for this man's loss, no doubt. This purely a scientific question. Would normal glasses have helped him in the same manner contacts would have?

  • No, contacts and glasses typically don't help the patient with post-LASIK complications. Or, they may help, but not much. The problem is that an irregular cornea doesn't focus light to a point. Instead, the light focuses in a way thats smeared, or causes double or triple images. So you're seeing double or triple of everything through a single eye. Plus, the aberrations can be different in each eye, so that they interfere with each other.

  • New research shows that every Laser used for LASEK, LASIK, and PRK now have long term problems from the UV LIGHT causing cell mutation under the FLAP and further aging the eye, accelerating cataracts, while exponentially causing ECTASIA. Check out: FDA LASIK (youtube). Or. LASIKNEWSWIRE. Website. Or. LIFEAFTERLASIK. Truth be told, all of us were lied to by every LASIK doctor in America, who put their love for MONEY first and our HEALTH last. Sorry to tell you the truth.................

  • I think it was because they wanted to correct for halos or aberrations such as ghosting. The typical treatment for this is RGP contact lenses, which are hard contact lenses. They are extremely uncomfortable. I actually was fitted with a pair last august.

  • But, what if, a patient takes the LAW into their own hands, now ruined and suicidal feeling there is nothing to live for? Doesn't this create an "x" factor for the Lying LASIK Doctors to think about? Does safety now come before money for once? Only time will tell. Basically, the Lying LASIK Doctors have lied in order to save a lawsuit, while pushing the patient past the Statute of Limitations to sue them which is about 2 years usually, all while ruining his patient's eyesight and life.
