Llangollen Railway. Firstly a GWR 0-6-2T no.5643 heads for Carrog with the 11:00 service. Note the 0-6-2T footage was taken the day before. Then a class 104 Railcar leaves for Carrog with the first train of the day with the10:30. Then a Black 5 no.44806 heads to Carrog with the 4:00.

  • 5643 is not a prairie, it is an 0-6-2t

  • No they are not. Prairie means a 2-6-2 wheel formation when referring to steam engines. 5643 is a 0-6-2 and is known as a Coal Tank or Taffy tank as they mainly worked coal trains in South Wales.

  • Excellent compilation of photos and clips. 5* The GWR 0-6-2 tanks could be found all over the GWR but were concentrated in the Welsh valleys used on both coal and passenger work.
