My 2 centruroides margaritatus beginning the mating dance. It took over 13 hours for them to successfully mate, mainly because it took the male a while to find a suitable place to deposit his spermatophore, which the female absorbs. Also, they're siblings, but inbreeding scorps is ok

Yes, there are species of scorpions where the females will consume their mates if the males do not retreat in time after courtship. I'm not sure that all species do, but there definitely are some. Just like black widow spiders and yes, praying mantises as someone mentioned.

  • no preying mantis's kill their mates after mating

  • So were they fighting in the beggining?

  • i've also heard inbreeding is okay to a point, the babies will eventually or will be weaker or weirder, but nothing major. unless my sources were wrong.

btw- my pandius imp's are trying to mate on their second day together!! :D

  • did the female killed the male after mating ?!! I heard this somewhere but I don't know if it's right or not !!!

  • very cool

  • where s this species frm?

i see the skelly.. is it a desert species?
