The New Acropolis Museum in Athens is nearing completion and is being
prepared for opening later in the year.
The building has been designed to house what the British call the Elgin Marbles...more than
fifty percent of the frieze from the Parthenon which have been in
London since the early 19th Century.
The new Museum is going to open with copies of the Elgin Marbles
placed next to the genuine treasures and it will put pressure on the
British Museum in London to return them to Greece.
Malcolm Brabant has been given a preview of the new building....

As a Greek, I find racist jokes about Greece on this site not only offensive, but also showing ingratitude towards our contribution to culture.
After all, we're the ones who invented homosexuality.

@tigerwa the fact that you tried over 1 year to convince me that you are right and i am wrong it shows how feeble your point of view is, you mention culture but you mean business and communication that is an other part of the globalisation.
anyway that is also a plus point for me i can communicate in 4 languages what is about you?.

@loxandra2312 If we were having this conversation in Greek you would have a point about British culture though the fact that we are having it in English sort of demonstrates how truly feeble your attempt to besmirch the importance of British culture actually is.

@loxandra2312 No we steal items from all around the world so we can see how different cultures compare to each other, you might not like seeing how much greek art stole from the art of Egypt or Mesopotamia through we do.

@tigerwa Poor fellow , if I were you I wouldn't be proud of all these large collections.
I dont think the English people can be proud of it. the genocide of natives people in the colonial territories and thefts of cultural goods legacies around the world because of lacking your own?

@loxandra2312 You are quite wrong there are large collections of items we stole from aboriginal and african people in the british museum too.

@tigerwa Turks are not an ethnic group, they are a nationality compromised of different ethnic groups. And Turkey belonged to Ancient Greece for 1700 years (far longer than the Ottomon period) so it is more likely that Turks have Ancient Greek blood then vice versa. Another point, Greeks have managed to preserve their language, their names, their culture and religion for thousands of year. You would be moronic to think they would readily throw all this way to a group of people they hated
