Confusion and delay!

Interesting Video Mate, can you image that happening now and all the burocracy over the incident instead of doing what they did back then and just getting things back to normal ASAP!

Top marks to the loco driver in the background with his rendition of "on Ilkley moor bah taht" at 2.25

I think the best bit is the rendition of "on Ilkley moor bah taaht" at 2.25,priceless.

Job out for 1Z99 Holbeck Steam Crane !

That must have been embarasing!

So glad to have provided you all with such entertainment -- first [and hopefully last] time I've ever derailed a loco! When I'm teaching new firemen, one of the first things I do is describe why it happened, as a cautionary tale.....

It's the only time I've ever seen the results of a derailment in real life. I remember at the time that someone actually caught the moment of derailment on video and was showing other people the playback on the camera. I was at the north end of Highley station at the time, and didn't actually see it happen, I just remember becoming aware of everyone suddenly looking and moving to have a look what was going on.

The things these steam fans will do to hinder a diesel weekend!! lol! (joking)
Notice removing buffer to untangle them.
Was it damaged?

I've posted my clip of 47383 in service on 21st May 1989 (7 days after being de-railed) and it might have been in service earlier than that, so if there was damage, it must have been minor.
