The University of Florida-IFAS Center for Aquatic and Invasive Plants has been collaborating with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) to develop educational curricula for teachers throughout the state (grades 4-12) on the topic of invasive plants and their management. Two key components of these outreach efforts are a 5-day teacher training workshop (aka PLANT CAMP) and on-site classroom demonstrations of Lakeville—A Natural Resource Management Activity. With UF's leadership as a flagship university, and FWC's support, teachers are getting the training and inspiration they need to teach the topic of invasive in an exciting way that captures the attention of their students.
