Erst mit Tönen sanft wie Flöten,
Goß sie Schmerz in meine Adern;
Sehen wollte sie der Kranke,

All part of the modern trend to dramatise everything, rather than let the song "speak for itself", I suppose.

Still a charming and beautifully sung perormance.....

He isnt singing it in the key shown on the screen.

Too bad there arent more versions of this on Youtube. This is one of the greatest "unknown" Schubert songs.

I find he does the melismatic pairs of eight notes too much in the baroque style (strong weak, strong weak... This sounds quite different if these pairs are sung totally evenly , makes more an evener legato, eliminates choppiness.
