Support Abortion rights, defend clinics, oppose Christian Fascism and the terroristic climate of hate




While uber-reactionary fundamentalist pastor Terry Jones held the country in thrall with his threats of burning a Quran on 9/11, another plot was unfolding here in NC amongst his Christian Fascist brethren. Justin Carl Moose, who claims affiliation with the "Army of God" movement, and was spotted at this summer's Operation Save America protests in Charlotte, was picked up yesterday by federal agents for plotting to blow up an abortion clinic in NC.




Enough is enough. We can't sit around while a fundamentalist movement with significant support amongst the Tea Party-types grows into an openly terrorist movement. You've all heard the escalating rhetoric against Muslims, immigrants, gays and lesbians, and abortion providers. You've heard about the physical attacks by people motivated by the hate speech being propagated by well-paid talking heads. It's becoming much uglier, and more open. Justin Carl Moose even posted on his facebook page open, specific threats against abortion providers.




A few of us from the Greensboro chapter of World Can't Wait are planning to go to Charlotte to stand with the Family Reproductive Health clinic and let them know that this community will defend them against these threats. The clinic is very much in favor of us coming, even if there are only a few of us. Let's show the world that the fascists aren't the only ones mobilizing. Let's stand for the rights of all people, and not compromise on the full equality of women.

How is abortion not murder? A fetus/embryo is not sentient, but it is still a human being. I support every choice except abortion, and not that because it takes a human life. If you could clarify that would be wonderful. Thanks!

that comment doesn't answer my question. Fingernails are small and human, yes, but they one part of a body. A fetus/embryo is a whole person because nothing is added to make them more or less of a person, only time, nourishment, and growth. That's also why I dont get the "my body my choice" argument. A fetus is a seperate person from his/her mother...that's just where they live until viability or birth.

What differentiates a fetus from a baby? I am a Christian pro-life person who believes that women should be able to decide when and whether a woman has children, and how many. I believe in birth control (except methods that prevent implantation) but I feel that abortion takes an innocent human life. Though I disagree with you, at least you guys are willing to say you feel abortion is not murder-can you elaborate? I realize fetuses/embroyos are not sentient, but they're still human beings.
